As the statistician you role will be to collection, analyze, interpret and present data for all phases of clinical trials. This exciting post gives you the opportunity to oversee the co-ordination of clinical research projects and clinical trials across all the scientific programme areas of the Unit.You will liaise with Principal Investigators and members of the Functional Group to implement and support the processes of study co-ordination.

You will have the opportunity to lead on the continued development of these processes and be responsible for ensuring that the Units studies and trials adhere to the latest research governance procedures and practices.You will manage the study co-ordination and support team as well as offer support to other members of the Unit (such as CDFs and PhD students) in their study co-ordination role.

We seek someone with a degree or equivalent in a relevant biological, clinical science or health related research area together with considerable senior management experience in an NHS/medical research/academic clinical research environment. Experience of running large multi-centred clinical trials or studies and a thorough understanding of good clinical research practise and the latest research governance are essential, as is experience of line management for a team of staff and a sound knowledge of IT systems in relation to study co-ordination.

Applications are invited for a fixed-term research fellowship for a maximum of three years, to be based in the RAE 5-rated School of Computing to work on a new EPSRC funded project entitled Mapping the underworld: multi-sensor device creation, assessment, protocols. This is a joint project with the Universities of Birmingham, Bath and Southampton.

Its aim is the creation of a multisensor device to detect buried utility assets. Leeds is responsible for the work package on Fusion of Sensor Data with Buried Asset Records in which the sensor data will be intelligently fused with the expectations generated from integrated utility records being created in a complementary project.

The post is available from December 2008, or a later date by mutual arrangement.

University Grade 6 (£24,152 – £28,839 p.a.) or University Grade 7 (£29,704 – £35,469 p.a.) or University 8 (£36,532 – £43,622 p.a.) according to qualifications and experience – an appointment at Grade 7 or 8 will be preferable

    To be a member of a group involved in the research and development of High Integrity Electronic Systems. To research, design, develop, analyse and verify high consequence sub-systems.

    Key accountabilities
    To provide the required level of capability in the area of Weapons Electrical System (WES), including development of relevant individual and team skills.

    Responsibilities

    Qualifications

    Highly computer literate with an understanding of analogue, digital electronics or embedded software engineering and sound working knowledge of DOS/windows/Linux is essential.

    Experience
    Demonstrable experience of developing electronic systems in a Quality Assurance environment driven by a process lead culture is essential.
