Medical Writer – Medical Communications – West Sussex

A highly reputable and award winning medical communications agency has a new opening for a Medical Writer to join their expanding team based in West Sussex. As a Medical Writer you will be involved in writing up conferences and advisory boards, working with researchers on primary research publications, commissioning and editing material for publications and write articles for in house journals. .

In order to be considered for this role you will ideally have a strong science background with a life science degree. Experience within a Medical Communications Agency is not essential however candidates with experience in the pharmaceutical and publishing sector will have a clear advantage. You will also be a team player and have good communication skills.

We are currently looking for a Specifications Technologist with previous experience of specification writing to join a leading food producer in West Sussex.

PURPOSE OF JOB

Role focuses on technical areas of the business with strong emphasis on specifications.

JOB CONTEXT AND CONTENT

The job holder will be the centre of expertise and will manage the customer specification interface with major retailers and others. The job will include responsibility for gathering food specification information from various sources both internally and externally and interpreting / inputting the data such that it matches the requirements of customer specifications.
Contact with all departments and staff at the sites. Regular liaison with customer technical and commercial teams. Provision of a comprehensive specifications service to serve the needs of both customers and internal staff. Regular contact with technical and NPD departments will be required.

PLANNING AND ORGANISING

The Specification Technologist will be required to plan and organise their own time under the general direction of the Technical managers. Deadlines must be agreed and adhered to ensuring a full and comprehensive specifications service.
This will involves liaising with suppliers, customers and staff to ensure that all required information is gathered and that procedures have been followed.
Advice may be sought from TSO, EHO, Food Research associations and Chilled Food Association.

Externally Own label customers, raw material suppliers, Trading Standards Office, Environmental Health Office.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

Preferably a food related degree or similar with minimum 2 years experience of specification completion within the food industry.
Specific knowledge of some or all of the following specification systems would be ideal: Sainsburys Inspire, Waitrose Ramesys, Co-op LSIQ, Hamilton Grant.
Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Access is mandatory.

Accountabilities

Implementing and achieving technical specification requirements.
To obtain complete and accurate information from suppliers, technical and NPD teams to allow correct completion of required specifications to agreed deadlines.
Satisfactory and timely completion of set projects.
Provide a comprehensive and accurate specification service within the parameters of the role.
To produce complete concise specifications with documentation as required.
To promote and develop specification procedures and considerations within the business.
